Telegard BBS Development Team
BETA SITE Application
Copyright (C) 1995,1996 by Tim Strike
All Rights Reserved.
The Telegard development team consists of a limited number of
voluntary positions which are filled by SysOps running the Telegard
BBS software. The keywords are "limited" and "voluntary" --
because of the nature of our testing, we require dedicated
individuals who have a desire to test our software and take time to
ensure the quality of the software.
The Telegard development team only has about twenty positions which
we fill as necessary with individuals who demonstrate they will be
an asset to the team and the testing process. Since there are only
a limited number of positions, we can not afford to carry members
who are not going to be an active member of the team. For this
reason, please do not waste our time (or yours) by filling out this
application if you do not believe you can meet the requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
There are several requirements for becoming a member of the
Telegard beta team. Please look them over carefully as these
requirements are mandatory:
(1) Fidonet node number
(2) TG_SUPPORT (echomail support conference) connected
(3) TG_SUP (file support conference) connected
(4) Working knowledge of echomail/netmail
Upon selection to the team, you will also be required to:
(A) Poll one of the following systems (nightly polls are
encouraged, but there is a once a week minimum):
(a) Alpha #1 - Tim Strike, 1:259/423, ON, Canada.
(b) Alpha #2 - Don Johnson, 1:104/531, CO, U.S.A.
(c) Alpha #3 - Kevin Watkins, 1:101/321, MA, U.S.A.
(B) Return complete bug and problem reports ASAP
And while it is *not* specifically part of the position, you may be
required to:
(C) Provide support (especially to local nodes who will ask
you lots and lots of questions)
NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT
The Telegard development teams needs privacy of development ideas
and future plans. These items are to ensure that the Telegard
development team can operate internally without the scrutiny or
public expectation which has come to unfortunately plague the BBS
world.
If you are selected to join our development team as a beta site,
the following terms are required to be met:
(1) Your personal key and all beta software and documentation
are the sole property of the Telegard development team and
should under no circumstances be provided to other
individuals for use.
(2) Proposed dates and features are *not* to be released to
the public unless expressly implied or previously
announced by the team.
Items may be appended to the non-disclosure agreement at any time.
This agreement can be terminated at any time by either party (the
Telegard development team and individual beta site); however,
anything acquired during the beta testing period still falls under
this agreement and is not dissolved because the relationship is
dissolved.
Filling out and returning this application is an understanding of
these terms and is satisfactory between both parties. If selected
to the beta team, this agreement is binding.
APPLICATION
Please fill out the remaining portion of the application and return
to the Telegard Development Team (we do not want the preceding text
returned, only the text starting with the GENERAL header):
betasite@1:259/423 [Fidonet]
betasite@fknights.gryn.org [Internet]
It is _imperative_ that you address your message to "betasite" to
ensure automated processing and filing of your application. DO NOT
FILE ATTACH THIS APPLICATION TO YOUR MESSAGE -- THE TEXT OF YOUR
MESSAGE SHOULD BE YOUR APPLICATION.
If addressed properly, you will receive an automated reply message
within a few days (mail movement dependant). At this point your
application has been filed and will be up for consideration the
next time we are adding members to the team (when a position
becomes available).
Please do not contact the development team to inquire about the
status of your application. If you have received the automatic
reply to your application, it has been processed. If there are no
available positions your application will be saved for future
consideration. You will be contacted if/when you are asked to join
the team.

Your personal information is for administration purposes only. If
your system is a multi-line system, please repeat the last set of

EXPERIENCE
This last section is freeform (i.e. no set criteria) which you
can use to persuade us you should be chosen over someone with
similar credentials.
In this section, please consider covering the following topics:
(a) your experience with Telegard, (b) your experience beta testing
other software or with programming software, (c) why you should be
selected to the Telegard development team, and (d) anything else we
should know about (do you have a good working knowledge of TCP/IP,
of networking, frontend mailers, etc).
While it would be nice to see the preceding questions answered,
please remember that this section is *freeform* -- answer more,
answer less -- just remember to leave a lasting impression!
